Protection of The Population and Objects from Snow Avalanche
Avalanche prevention service was founded with the purpose to ensure safety of population and to reduce damage from snow avalanches. It's basic goal is the development and realization of measures on avalanche, prevention, including avalanche danger forcast, expertize of building documentation and their preventive descent.
In Russia works on preventive descent of snow avalanches have been carried out more than 60 years on the Kola peninsula, Northern Caucasus, Sakhalin, Kamchatka, in Transbaikalia and Krasnoyarsk territory.
For this purpose artillery and mortar complexes of calibre up to 120 mm are used.
New and perspective individual anti-avalanche complexe is nearly finished with effective range of 800 м and grenade cup discharge weight up to 650 grammes. A combination of such complexe with artillery will allow to expand precautionary neasures from snow avalanches.
